How To Play Baccarat

There are three possible results in a game of Baccarat, Player, Banker or Tie. They are the three possible bets you can place.  When you play Baccarat, your aim is do predict which hand will reach a total of nine or be the closest to it. You are not up against the other players you are playing against the house. Cards two through to nine are worth their numerical value, tens, Jacks, Queens and kings are worth nothing and ace have a value of one.

In Baccarat two hands are dealt, player and banker from a six or eight deck shoe. Each receives two cards. As the highest score possible in the game is nine, when the hands value passes nine point, the ten digit is dropped, i.e. you are dealt a 6 and a 5.

Normal numerical total would be 11 (6+5=11)

Baccarat value would be 1 as you lose the ten digit!

It is after this that the Third Card Rules come into play.

Third card rule for the player hand are simple. If the first two cards dealt add up to between 0 and 5, a third card is drawn. If the first two cards total between 6 and 7 you stand. If the first two cards total either 8 or 9 ( a natural) you’ve won so won’t need any more cards!!

The Third Card Rule for the Banker is a touch more complex. If the player did not receive a third card in the hand then the banker uses the same rules stated above. If the player did receive a third card, a different set of rules are followed by the banker.

1. Should the Player draw a third card of 2 or 3; the Banker can also if  holding 0 to 4 and stands with a 5 to 7 total.

2. Should the Player draw a third card of 4 or 5; the Banker can also if  holding 0 to 5 and stands with a 6 or 7 total.

3. Should the Player draw a third card of 6 or 7; the banker can also draw if  holding 0 to 6 and stands with a 7.

4. Should the Player draw a third card that is an 8; the Banker can also draw if  holding 0 to 2 and stands with 3 to 7.

5. Should the Player draw a third card that is a 9, 10, Jack, Queen, King or Ace; the Banker can also draw if  holding 0 to 3 and stands with 4 to 7.

The hand closest to nine wins, it’s up to you to decide whether player or banker are victorious or whether the hand will result in a tie outcome. You place your bet before the hands are dealt and then add up those cards and hope you’ve backed the outcome closest to nine.

Baccarat is a game of chance, so any strategies or guides claiming to help you beat the house are to be avoided at all cost. Just like Roulette you want Lady Luck on your side and nothing more!
