Disaster! – We are 1 – 0 down inside 4 minutes as Kuyt loses possession and the Turks sweep forward and leave Reina helpless as the goal goes in.
Media Meddling! – Can’t help but wonder that Kuyt was seriously affected by all the speculation concerning his future. He’s only human !
Useless UEFA – Can’t believe the sight of a red dot on Reina’s face as some moron shines a Laser Pen at him ! This is both dangerous and unsporting and UEFA must take the most punitive and effective sanctions against Trabzonspor !!
Backs To The Wall – Yattara misses a free header and at times it seems Liverpool are chasing shadows as they hang on in there. Johnson scores but it’s obviously off-side.
Reliable Referee – Must mention the referee as he had a brilliant game! He was strong in every department, was not intimidated by the hostile crowd or fooled by players definitely in possession of an Equity Card ! He booked one Turkish player for a fabulous ‘ Dive ‘. 10/10.
Half-Time Revival- A brief scare as a Turkish player is flagged wrongly for off-side, but he misses anyway and we can breath again. Reina does a good job as sweeper to prevent what could have been a disastrous goal!
Naive Ngog – Liverpool are starting to battle and create chances. Ngog misses a great headed opportunity and then puts wide after some brilliant individual skill! We are closing down well and defending in numbers and again the Ref needs a mention for a free kick to Liverpool. – This Ref is good!
Goalkeeping Master Class – The Turkish goalkeeper catches everything, just like in the first leg! Aurelio off – Pacheco on. Johnson does well and plays it into Ngog. 1 – 1. Well actually it was an own goal, but hey it was coming.
Pacheco Promise – He cuts in from the left and unleashes a great shot and the goalkeeper can only parry the ball out, straight to the feet of Kuyt who scores with ease. 1 – 2.
Your On Your Own Here – This was the banner from the Turkish supporters, No Way! – Only 90 Liverpool fans made the trip, but in the end it was a superb performance and the Reds showed fantastic spirit to enthral the Liverpool contingent. The Reds Never Walk Alone!
